Early childhood education, primary education, secondary education and inclusive education in developing countries
Ice compiled studies for four thematic areas, based on the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) educational “strategy 2010-2013 - ten objectives for more education”. For the respective period, the overarching objectives had been outlined for the sector to strengthen the profile of German developmental cooperation regarding educational systems in a holistic way, at an international level, shaped from the same mould.
Project description
For each of the four studies, ice scrutinised programmatic documents published by UNESCO, UNICEF and World Bank focusing on the specific countries and educational areas. The texts were analysed with respect to their prognostic statements. Based on the state of art, ice thus aimed to prepare the positioning of Germany with a strong link to science.
Methodologically, the studies present a type of document analysis, which focused on German activities in the developing countries. Ice co-equally took scientific evidence and educational policy measures into perspective. The studies presented a building block in the discussion concerning the post-2015 “Education for All” millennium development goals.
As a result, four studies emerged for the thematic areas of early childhood education, basic education, secondary education, and inclusive education.
