Evidence-informed policy and practice in education in Europe
In 2010, cooperation among relevant European stakeholders in the field of “evidence-informed education policy” was intensified due to the approval of the EU project “Evidence Informed Policy in Education in Europe”, DIPF being a partner right from the start. The project had been launched by the EPPI Centre at University College London. Funding was extended for another year in 2012 - now, education practice was added to the focus and the name of the project changed accordingly to “Evidence Informed Policy and Practice in Education in Europe “ (eippee).
Project Description
The EIPPEE Network evolved from a project funded by the European Commission bringing together 36 partners from 23 different countries across Europe, and a further seven international affiliates.
The Network consists of organisations and individuals working together on specific aspects of evidence use. They work in different countries and communicate mainly electronically while occasionally convening for meetings .
The Network operates in all areas of evidence usage processes, pursuant to the following aims:
- Raising of awareness and knowledge about research use through a broad-based, multi-level, international network;
- increased access to relevant educational research;
- encouraging mediation between research and its use;
- enabling use of research, and
- studying the use of research in decision-making and identification of barriers and facilitators.
The Network
EIPPEE offers people the opportunity to register as a member of the EIPPEE project network, participate in project activities and events and access all project resources through the project website. It organises international conferences where people can meet and discuss evidence-informed policy and practice.
EIPPEE
- also organises Special Interest Groups on various aspects of evidence use;
- provides a search portal offering access to research from across Europe;
- organises occasional events with partners and
- supports decision-makers in education in Europe regarding the use of research in policy and practice, and
- offers consultancy by international experts in the use of research.
Project Management
The Network is run by an International Partners’ Group who are supported by a secretariat.
